KIDS BATHROOM RENO

KIDS BATHROOM RENO

In our last post we showed you our main bath remodel and now we get to finally show you the rest, our kids’ bathroom! This bathroom will be getting the most use as it is the one guests will use as well as our girls.

I mentioned in our last post that I would be sharing budget details this time around. We did both bathrooms at the same time to try and save a little money. We spent around $25,000 for both. We definitely splurged in certain areas but then cut back in others that didn’t really matter to us. We kept the same layout to save some money. We debated about putting in another sink but we liked the idea of having more counter space for a future with two teen girls. We also discussed doing brass fixtures but there was such a big difference in cost and we felt we were still being true to the era by using chrome instead.

As we were designing these bathrooms we were definitely leaning more toward the modern side. We wanted both of the bathrooms to be cohesive in most of their materials. I think after living in apartments for so long and small spaces it just seems right to have the same flow throughout instead of separate designs. I wanted to retain some of that mid century feel in the kids’ bath without the harvest gold bathtub and sink 😖. I knew I wanted to do some kind of dresser or credenza. It really came down to finding the right height and width for our space and we were lucky to find this one from West Elm.

Light Fixture / Wall Mount Faucet / Vessel Sink / Vanity / Floor Tile

I had the hardest time deciding on the light fixture and mirror. We resorted to putting kraft paper cutouts on the wall and sketches just to try and wrap our minds around how it would look. So, apparently mirrors are ridiculously expensive! It just wasn’t an area that I was willing to splurge on so we ended up just having a mirror cut and had them put chrome channel all the way around it. The lighting really all came together when we thought outside the realm of bathroom sconces and started looking at some of the lighting we had actually considered for our dining room. This one from DuttonBrown totally made the room for us and the best part is they are local ❤️.

Macrame Plant Holder /  Beaded Macrame Plant Holder

One of my obsessions lately is faux succulents. The ones I used here were from Michaels. I am not the greatest with plants. I have even killed an air plant 😳.  The bathroom is the perfect place for these little guys because it adds so much life and you don’t have to worry about sunlight or watering.

Towels / Towel Hooks / Window Shade in Pearl / Toilet Paper Holder

It is so fun finally being able to enjoy our bathrooms now. We are so thankful to Laurel Builders for all their hard work and making this such a smooth process. The girls are actually excited to take baths now that the mold is gone ha! Now I definitely have my eye on the kitchen and have already started planning 😃. It might be awhile for that one though!

Here are just a couple more pics I had to share 😍.

Hand Towel / Vase / 4×16 Matte White Tile / Quartz Countertop
